This job opportunity is for a position within the bakery department at Whole Foods Market, which involves a variety of important baking and production duties. The role includes preparing, decorating, and finishing artisan breads, cakes, pies, and other pastries while ensuring each product meets the company’s quality standards. As a Team Member in this capacity, you will be responsible for stock management, production planning for special events and holidays, and implementing new recipes and techniques to ensure creativity and seasonal variety on the bakery shelves. This position emphasizes the importance of customer service and teamwork as Team Members are expected to engage with customers, support fellow Team Members, and participate actively on the sales floor.

In this role, you will also be tasked with maintaining cleanliness and adhering to health and safety standards, essential to ensure a safe working and shopping environment. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Ability to perform single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling with hands
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of artisan breads and pastries, including cake decorating

Job Duties

  • Produces quality breads and pastries
  • Produces doughs, mixes, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars
  • Performs baking, cooling, wrapping, and labeling of products
  • Stocks dry products
  • Develops new recipes and production techniques to ensure seasonal variance and high productivity
  • Trains production personnel to the highest standards in industry
  • Performs production planning and forecasting for special events and holidays
