The role available is within the produce department, focused on the preparation and merchandising of fruits and vegetables. This position requires performing all functions related to processing produce while maintaining compliance with health, safety, and quality standards set by Whole Foods Market. Team members in this role are expected to deliver outstanding customer service by being courteous, friendly, and efficient, thereby supporting the company’s image positively at all times. The employee will engage in a wide variety of tasks including cutting produce, managing sampling programs, and ensuring product quality. Additional responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, adhering to company policies, and participating in store training and meetings. This position offers an hourly wage range of $17.00 to $25.40, commensurate with experience. Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Standing or walking for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift
  • Use of hand motions including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Able to work in temperatures from below freezing to above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Cuts fruits and vegetables following all safety and sanitation rules
  • Ensures product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
  • Maintains sampling program
  • Cleans department continuously and maintains sweep logs
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follows and complies with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
  • Immediately reports safety hazards and violations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership
