The role of a Prep Cook at American Dining Creations is essential to the smooth operation of their kitchen and the overall guest experience. This position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, and offers varying pay depending on the location. As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for preparing meal ingredients, simple dishes, condiments, and other related items necessary for daily production. This position acts as a reliable resource within the culinary team, often serving as the 'go to' person to ensure that all food preparation standards are met, contributing to an optimal dining experience for guests.
Your duties will include preparing cooking ingredients such as washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and mixing condiments, dressings, and sauces. Basic cooking tasks like reducing sauces and parboiling food will also be part of your responsibilities. Maintaining proper food storage, adhering to state and local sanitation and safety regulations, restocking supplies, assisting with inventory, and ensuring cleanliness in the kitchen are critical components of the role. The environment is fast-paced and high-volume, requiring efficiency, organization, and excellent communication skills. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, walking, climbing stairs, and standing for scheduled shifts.

Job Qualifications
- previous experience in a related role
- understanding of proper food handling, preparation, and cooking procedures
- understanding of sanitation and regulations for workplace safety
- basic knife skills
- ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, high-volume, high-quality environment
- self-motivated achiever, eager to learn and interested in taking on additional roles and responsibilities
- must be dedicated to excellence in hospitality and have a desire to offer a great dining experience
- ability to cross train and cross utilize skills

Job Duties
- follow standards to prepare meal ingredients and simple dishes as directed by management or other staff
- prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal prep
- mix or prepare condiments, dressings, and sauces
- undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces and parboiling food
- store foods in designated areas following standard wrapping, dating, food safety, and rotation procedures
- adhere to all state and local food production, safety, and sanitation regulations
- keep supplies replenished, restock coolers, and take inventory as directed
- assist with unloading, inspection, and proper storage of raw ingredients and supplies
- maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash
- listen well and communicate in a professional and friendly manner
- be efficient and organized
- may be assigned other duties and responsibilities as needed
