The role of Prep Cook at Fresh Kitchen is fundamental to maintaining the high standards and quality guests expect. This position is responsible for all aspects of food preparation and safety, helping to ensure that every dish served meets strict specifications. Prep Cooks play a vital role in the kitchen's daily operations by prepping and producing menu items with precision and care, following detailed recipes and specifications. The job involves handling large volumes of fresh vegetables and proteins, creating homemade sauces and marinades, baking desserts, and maintaining food safety and sanitation practices consistently. Prep Cooks must also manage inventory by putting away and rotating produce and food orders, as well as monitoring and maintaining proper pars and counts to sustain smooth service throughout each shift.

Job Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • previous culinary experience
  • team player with a good attitude
  • ability to read and follow written recipes
  • reliable transportation
  • able to work in hot and cool environments
  • able to lift at least 20 pounds and frequently squat and bend
  • self accountable in upholding high standards
  • able to work in a fast-paced setting for up to 8 hours daily
  • willingness to learn and develop
  • ServeSafe Food Handler Certification (if not certified, willingness to obtain)

Job Duties

  • Prepare and prep high volumes of vegetables and protein
  • make homemade sauces and marinades
  • bake desserts
  • put away and rotate produce and food orders

  • use kitchen machinery including knives, ovens, grills, gas stoves, food processors, and blenders properly
  • follow recipes and adhere to food specs ensuring quality and consistency
  • properly open, close, and clean your station
