We are currently seeking a part-time Prep Cook to join our dedicated kitchen team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen by assisting in food preparation, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, and properly handling kitchen equipment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for food quality and kitchen hygiene. The position requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks efficiently while adhering to established food safety protocols.

The Prep Cook will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting food items according to strict recipes and quality standards. Monitoring food quality, consistency, and portion sizes throughout service is essential to maintaining the community’s high standards. Maintaining appropriate preparation levels to ensure timely service and following allergen procedures to prevent cross-contamination are also key tasks. Communication with team members regarding orders and timing is crucial for operational success.

In addition to food preparation, the role involves kitchen operations and sanitation. Candidates will be expected to set up, clean, and maintain workstations and equipment diligently. Proper food storage, labeling, and temperature controls must be followed at all times to ensure food safety. The Prep Cook will assist in receiving and managing inventory, reporting low stock levels, and minimizing waste to support efficient kitchen management. Completing opening and closing duties, along with adhering to operational checklists, contributes to maintaining an organized and safe kitchen environment.

Professionalism and compliance are equally important. The candidate must maintain a professional appearance and follow safe work practices in all kitchen activities. Full compliance with all food safety regulations including ServSafe standards and local health department requirements is mandatory. Promptly reporting any safety concerns or equipment issues ensures a secure workplace. Active participation in training sessions and team meetings fosters continuous improvement and team cohesion.

This part-time position demands a minimum of one year of food service experience, with a preference for candidates holding culinary certifications. Serve Safe Certification is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment. A high school diploma is preferred, and candidates must be at least 18 years old. The role requires physical stamina to bend, stoop, climb stairs, twist, kneel, lift, push, and pull items weighing up to 55 pounds and the ability to stand and move continuously throughout the workday. The work environment occasionally includes outdoor duties requiring comfort in varying weather conditions. Working evenings, weekends, and holidays is also expected, underscoring the need for flexibility.
