Job Description

We are currently seeking dedicated and experienced Full Time Prep Cooks to join the team at Green Street Smoked Meats. This position offers a competitive hourly wage of $20 to $22 and requires availability for the early morning shift, from 4am to 12:30pm CT. The ideal candidate is passionate about maintaining high standards of excellence and service, thrives in a fast-paced, full-service restaurant environment, and contributes positively to the team dynamic. As a Prep Cook, you will be instrumental in supporting kitchen operations by preparing menu items according to Hogsalt’s stringent recipe standards, ensuring consistent food quality and timely service. A key part of the role involves maintaining effective communication within the kitchen team to foster a smooth and organized workflow.

In this role, you are expected to set up and stock your station with the necessary supplies, oversee proper inventory control, and ensure food safety standards are always met. You will work closely with the Prep Lead, Sous Chef, Executive Chef, and other kitchen staff to follow instructions and uphold the highest culinary and operational guidelines. Beyond technical skills, a positive attitude under potentially hot or cold working conditions and a professional approach to colleagues and vendors are essential.   • ability to stand walk and move throughout the shift including frequent bending lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds and stooping
  • ability to remain positive and productive in a potentially hot or cold work environment

Job Duties

  • Set up and stock station with all necessary supplies ensuring proper inventory control
  • cook and prepare menu items in cooperation with kitchen staff according to Hogsalt Recipe Index ensuring food quality and time standards are met
  • maintain a high level of communication and understand verbiage for call backs of menu items keeping lines of dialogue open and relevant to service
  • answer report to and follow instructions and direction from Prep Lead Sous Chef Executive Chef or other leadership
  • properly clean and break down station at end of service ensuring all food handling and storage standards are met
  • ensure kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations at all times
  • maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers leadership and vendors
