Our restaurant's emphasis on cleanliness, attention to detail, and adherence to health regulations creates a safe and enjoyable environment both for our patrons and our employees. At Wood Ranch, we foster a culture of teamwork, respect, and professional growth, offering opportunities for those passionate about the culinary arts and restaurant service industry. Our staff members are valued for their contribution to creating memorable experiences for our guests, and we offer competitive wages that increase with experience, starting at minimum wage.
The Prep Cook role at Wood Ranch is an essential position within our kitchen team, responsible for preparing all food items in accordance with our detailed recipes and health standards. This position demands a dedicated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, capable of managing their assigned cooking station efficiently. The Prep Cook ensures that workstations are properly set up, stocked, and sanitized, contributing directly to the overall safety and cleanliness of the kitchen. Key duties include preparing ingredients by washing, chopping, and sorting fruits, vegetables, and meats, as well as handling simple cooking tasks such as slicing, frying, broiling, and grilling. The Prep Cook plays a critical role in labeling and storing food items to ensure freshness and accessibility, adhering to strict hygiene and safety codes.
Success in this position requires a basic understanding or willingness to learn food handling techniques, workplace safety regulations, and proper sanitation practices. The role also demands physical stamina to stand for long periods, work in extreme kitchen temperatures, lift up to 30 pounds, and perform manual tasks such as chopping and cutting with dexterity. This position requires a flexible schedule, including the ability to work late nights and unpredictable hours. Our Prep Cook must communicate openly with management to address any work-related concerns promptly and contribute positively to the team environment. Wood Ranch values employees who follow instructions carefully and respond well to feedback to continually improve their skills and the quality of the food served.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of six months of experience as either a line cook or prep cook in a full-service restaurant. Our competitive starting wages offer career growth opportunities through wage increases based on experience and performance. Wood Ranch’s Prep Cook position is well-suited for individuals seeking to expand their culinary expertise, work collaboratively in a professional kitchen environment, and develop their careers in the foodservice industry. The role offers practical experience in food preparation and kitchen operations essential for any culinary career path. We strive to create an encouraging workplace where hardworking individuals can learn, grow, and succeed in the food service industry.
