The role at PopStroke we are highlighting is that of a Prep Cook. This is a non-exempt position, offering a pay range of $16 to $22 per hour, designed for individuals who excel in fast-paced culinary settings and enjoy the art of preparation and kitchen teamwork. As a key member of the kitchen staff, the Prep Cook will engage in essential activities such as chopping, slicing, and marinating ingredients, following portion control guidelines, maintaining sanitation standards, managing inventory, and ensuring that the kitchen operates efficiently during meal service. The position demands cooperation among staff to maintain timing and workflow, participation in opening and closing duties, and flexibility to help with dishwashing when needed.

This job is ideal for those who are passionate about food preparation, have previous experience in a high-volume kitchen, and embody strong communication and teamwork skills. The physicality of the role requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds, signifying the need for a capable and agile individual. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to stand walk bend crouch kneel and reach for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift carry push and pull up to 40 lbs
  • Must be able to safely operate kitchen equipment and tools

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a prep cook in a high-volume environment
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Assist with the preparation of ingredients for cooking including chopping slicing dicing and marinating following recipes and portion guidelines
  • Follow established portion control procedures to minimize food waste
  • Organize and stock ingredients and supplies to ensure smooth workflow during meal service
  • Maintain a high degree of standards in cleanliness and sanitation in all the kitchen areas including equipment countertops and storage areas following food safety regulations
  • Follow proper food handling procedures to minimize waste and ensure food quality and freshness
  • Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels rotating ingredients labeling prep items receiving supplies and notifying the chef or manager of any shortages or discrepancies
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate timing and workflow
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures
  • Assist with dishwashing duties as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
