The role available is a full-time Kitchen Assistant position with a wage range of $21.00 to $25.20 per hour, depending on previous work history and experience. This position plays a crucial support role in ensuring smooth kitchen operations and excellent dining experiences for residents. The Kitchen Assistant works closely with the Executive and Sous Chefs to prepare and present meals, maintain cleanliness, and uphold food safety and sanitary standards. Responsibilities include assisting with meal preparation according to prescribed recipes and production guides, maintaining kitchen hygiene, supporting special events and banquets, and helping with the transportation and proper storage of food and supplies.

In this fast-paced environment, the Kitchen Assistant must possess strong food handling knowledge, be able to communicate effectively in English, and hold certifications such as a Food Handler's Permit and ServSafe. The role demands attention to detail and adherence to all safety and quality guidelines to ensure that residents receive nutritious, appealing meals. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food handlers permit as required by local or state regulations
  • ServSafe certification
  • Prior experience in food preparation preferred
  • Ability to follow recipes and production guides
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and adhere to food safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Effectively read, write and communicate in English with residents and other employees
  • Food handlers permit as required by provincial law/local/state and/or Company standards
  • Serv safe certification is required
  • Able to follow and read recipes and production guides
  • Knowledge of food handling, preparation, cooking and service

Job Duties

  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of meals
  • Provide a high level of customer service
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef and or Sous Chef to keep residents satisfied with food and dining programs
  • Maintain kitchen in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition at all times
  • Adhere to cleaning schedules as assigned
  • Ensure that all food is received, stored, and prepared according to company standards
  • Assist cook with preparation and presentation of meals and snacks in accordance with Company recipes and production guides
  • Keep kitchen floors clean (sweeps and mops) and trash emptied
  • Assist with the transportation and storage of food and supplies
  • Assist cooks as requested
  • Adhere to standard food safety practices
  • Assist with preparing and executing special events, banquets, and theme meals
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a clean and sanitary manner
  • Will attend pre-meal stand-up in the kitchen prior to meal service
  • May perform other duties as needed and or assigned
