Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a prep cook or line cook in a fast-paced restaurant
- Superior dexterity for safe and quick use of cutting tools
- Familiarity with industry-standard cooking and preparation methods
- Certified in proper food handling such as ServSafe
- Ability to follow instructions from kitchen managers and supervisors
- Capacity to work long periods standing and performing repetitive movements
- Ability to handle physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to maintain organization and cleanliness in the kitchen
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year uninterrupted employment in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant as a prep cook or line cook
- ServSafe certification or equivalent in proper food handling
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
- Good math skills and understanding of cooking measurements
- Knowledge of safe and sanitary food preparation practices
- Keen sense of smell and taste
Job Duties
- Completing all tasks on the prep list as directed by kitchen leadership
- Labeling and stocking ingredients while keeping shelves and coolers organized
- Washing, chopping, and sorting fruits, vegetables, and meats
- Measuring quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients
- Parboiling food, reducing sauces, and initiating first steps in dishes
- Cleaning dishes, utensils, cookware, and maintaining kitchen sanitation
- Adhering to nutrition and sanitary regulations
- Monitoring inventory and collaborating with management to order supplies
