Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Cooking experience required
  • Ability to work flexible hours, primarily 10:30-7pm
  • Ability to independently prepare meals
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs
  • Must have good health habits, including frequent hand washing
  • Good eye hand coordination when handling sharp knives and other kitchen tools
  • Certification by the Texas Department of Health (ServeSafe) or the ability to become certified within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Hearing and vision within normal range

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Cooking experience required
  • Previous experience in institutional cooking preferred
  • Certified by the Texas Department of Health (ServeSafe) or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
  • Knowledge and skill of food preparation, including food safety standards
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions

Job Duties

  • Maintain inventory of food and non-food items as required to prepare meals in accordance with dietitian approved menus
  • Prepare food order for approval by Food Services Manager
  • Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, kitchens, food storage areas, and food preparation equipment in accordance with standards established by Health Department and other inspecting agencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for cooking breakfast when needed
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions
  • Preserve good health habits such as frequent hand washing
