Metro Diner is a renowned restaurant chain celebrated for its warm, welcoming service, familiar faces, and award-winning food. With a strong commitment to delivering simply delicious dishes and 100 percent guest satisfaction, Metro Diner has built a reputation as a go-to destination for comfort food lovers. The company takes pride in its vibrant culture, which is not only spoken about but actively lived and breathed by its team every day. This culture fosters a positive work environment where every employee feels valued and motivated to contribute to the diner’s success. Metro Diner is dedicated to providing exceptional dining experiences through meticulous attention to food quality and customer service, making it a beloved brand in the restaurant industry.
Currently, Metro Diner is seeking friendly and dedicated individuals to join their team as Prep Cooks. This role is integral to the smooth operation and success of the kitchen. Prep Cooks are responsible for preparing all food products according to specific Metro Diner recipes, utilizing a variety of processes, equipment, and utensils to ensure consistency and quality. The position demands a high level of attention to detail, as well as a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workstation. Since the kitchen serves as a showcase for the diner’s culinary expertise, cleanliness and orderliness are essential at all times.
The role offers flexible schedules, making it an attractive option for individuals seeking work-life balance. Employees enjoy benefits such as paid back-of-house shift meals, front-of-house meal discounts, and meal discounts extended to friends and family. Additionally, after one year of service, team members become eligible for paid vacation and competitive benefits, including free telemedicine services through First Stop Health. Metro Diner also encourages team growth and camaraderie through a referral bonus program, offering $250 for each successful referral with no limit on the number of referrals. Other perks include access to over 30,000 discounts through Perks at Work, covering travel, fitness, automotive needs, event tickets, and more. The diner emphasizes long-term career growth, providing a supportive team environment that fosters professional development and advancement.
Success in this role requires understanding and strict adherence to Metro Diner’s recipe book, regardless of prior familiarity with the dishes. Prep Cooks must comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies. They are also responsible for keeping refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage organized and clean while ensuring that all items are properly sealed, labeled, and dated. The ability to maintain a sanitary and orderly workspace is critical to uphold the diner’s high standards. Ideal candidates may have prior experience as a Prep Cook in busy kitchen environments and demonstrate initiative in addressing any prepping errors professionally. Attention to detail in inventory rotation, specifically using the FIFO (First In, First Out) system, is important, as is the awareness to monitor inventory levels continually and inform the Kitchen Manager of shortages promptly.
Joining Metro Diner as a Prep Cook means becoming part of a great team dedicated to culinary excellence and guest satisfaction. The role not only offers the opportunity to hone your cooking and kitchen management skills but also to grow professionally within a stable and supportive company. Metro Diner’s commitment to its employees and guests alike makes it a rewarding place to work and build a career in the restaurant industry.
