Job Description
Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is one of the fastest growing franchises in America, known for its vibrant game day atmosphere and authentic taste of Louisiana cuisine. This restaurant chain prides itself on its winning culture, emphasizing teamwork, camaraderie, and passion for food and fun. Walk-On's mission is to provide an energetic environment where every team member plays for the name on the front of their uniform, fostering a collective spirit that drives success both in the kitchen and front of the house. As a brand, Walk-On's combines a unique blend of great food, engaging sports entertainment, and a friendly, inclusive atmosphere that attracts a loyal customer base seeking memorable dining experiences.
The role available at Walk-On's is a part-time Line Cook position, an essential role that supports the kitchen’s day-to-day operations and contributes directly to the quality of food served to guests. This position demands a highly motivated, dedicated, and energetic individual with an excellent attitude, capable of multitasking efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Line Cook must be adept at maintaining professional and cordial relationships with both team members and guests, ensuring seamless service and a smooth kitchen operation. Responsibilities include preparing food items precisely according to Walk-On's recipes and safety standards, maintaining cleanliness as per sanitation guidelines, and assisting in inventory and prep work. This role requires one to stay punctual, well-groomed, and ready to support wherever necessary during the shift.
Walk-On's emphasizes safety, sanitation, and employee guidelines, ensuring every team member contributes to a safe and efficient work environment. The Line Cook must be proficient in portion control, food rotation, and temperature calibration using bio-thermometers and scales. The ability to operate kitchen equipment like fryers, grills, slicers, and the capacity to follow HACCP guidelines are also essential. This position requires physical stamina since it involves long hours of standing, bending, and lifting up to 60 pounds amidst high heat conditions. Walk-On's also values a winning personality, consistent positive attitude, and a strong teamwork mentality among its Line Cooks, highlighting the importance of both technical skills and personal qualities in contributing to the brand’s success.
Though part-time, the position involves a scheduled workweek of 29 hours or less, but hours can fluctuate based on business needs. The company complies with federal health reform laws regarding part-time status, measuring work hours over a look-back period to determine eligibility for health coverage. This means that even if an employee occasionally works more than 30 hours, the role remains classified as part-time unless formally changed with notification. Walk-On's provides ongoing opportunities for employees to thrive in a fast-paced environment where their contributions directly impact the dining experience and company culture. In summary, this Line Cook position at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic settings, enjoy culinary challenges, and value being part of a team-oriented environment that celebrates success and hard work.
