Job Description
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is a prestigious public research university with a storied history dating back to 1794. As the state's flagship land-grant university, it serves over 38,000 students and employs about 10,000 individuals statewide. Known for its commitment to leadership, service, and innovation, the university offers more than 900 programs across 14 colleges and schools, with a strong emphasis on research, including partnerships with major industry leaders and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The university values its employees highly, focusing on professional development, work-life balance, and fostering an engaged and supportive community. Recognized nationally as one of the best employers for new graduates and women, and as an excellent workplace for parents, UT Knoxville creates a vibrant and inclusive environment that nurtures talent and leadership.
Within this dynamic environment, the Premium Services Manager role is a pivotal position based onsite in Knoxville, TN, charged with driving the sales and service for premium event spaces at the Food City Center. This arena features multiple premium offerings, including two levels of high-end suites, premium loge seating, a new table seating area, and club level spaces with access from the lower bowl. The manager's primary focus is on recruiting new customers and organizations, selling available products, and identifying upselling opportunities to optimize revenue. In addition to leading sales initiatives, the manager will be responsible for creating and managing an annual budget that targets new revenue growth and coordinates VIP concert functions to enhance the customer experience.
This role requires a blend of sales expertise, event management, and collaborative coordination with various stakeholders such as the ticket office, arena management, catering services, promoters, and athletic departments. The manager will ensure that on event days, premium guests receive exceptional service—from hospitality to food service and logistics—while also serving as the public face of Food City Center Premium. A key responsibility involves the post-event analysis to improve service delivery continually.
Special projects and flexibility are also vital, as the manager may step into supporting roles during events where premium sales are limited or impractical. The role demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work odd or extended hours including nights and weekends, and a strong capacity for digital sales tracking and decision-making. This position offers a competitive salary range aligned with the University of Tennessee market range 11, with additional comprehensive employee benefits.
