The Practice Support Assistant (Clinical Receptionist) role at Bronson Family Medicine - Shaffer St. is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week. The individual hired will be responsible for numerous patient-facing and administrative support tasks that play a crucial role in delivering timely and effective care to patients. The Practice Support Assistant is tasked with greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling patient check-in procedures, and managing medical files and records with accuracy and confidentiality.
This position demands strong organizational skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a firm understanding of medical office operations including experience with medical insurance processing and the use of electronic practice management systems such as Medic, Misys, or Tiger. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3-6 months of related experience
- Keyboarding and computer skills
- Ability to file accurately
- Professional communication and excellent customer service skills
- Previous computer experience with hospital-based programs preferred
- Proficient organizational skills
- Excellent math skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical information

Job Duties
- Registers patients/customers and confirms patient/guarantor demographic and insurance information
- Completes all required fields in practice management system
- Determines patient co-payments and collects payments on amounts due
- Enter charges/payments into MISYS/Tiger system or other practice management system
- Prepares encounter forms for charge entry using correct ICD-9 and CPT codes
- Schedules and coordinates patient appointments, tests, and referrals
- Answers telephones, takes messages, routes callers, and provides information consistent with service standards
