The Practice Support Assistant position at Bronson Sports Medicine in Kalamazoo, MI, offers a fulfilling clinical administrative career with a full-time schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, onsite. This role supports the clinic's operations by managing patient interactions, scheduling, and crucial office procedures that help maintain the smooth functioning of the sports medicine practice. Responsibilities encompass greeting patients warmly, handling incoming communications efficiently, managing patient information and scheduling appointments, and assisting with billing and insurance processes. Job Requirements

  • 3-6 months of related experience
  • Previous experience in medical insurance preferred
  • Must have keyboarding and computer skills
  • Proficient in filing and organization

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Registers patients/customers and confirms patient/guarantor demographic and insurance information
  • Completes all required fields in practice management system
  • Determines patient co-payments using electronic insurance verification system and collects payments on amounts due
  • Enters charges/payments into MISYS/Tiger or other practice management system
  • Prepares encounter forms for charge entry using correct ICD-9 and CPT codes
  • Schedules and coordinates patient appointments, tests, and referrals according to office/provider preferences and patient needs
  • Answers telephones, takes messages, routes callers, and provides/relays information consistent with service standards
  • Maintains patient medical records according to current required standards
  • Obtains patient authorization for transfer of private health information
  • Maintains patient confidentiality of data and information
  • Performs basic office duties such as sorting/distributing mail, copying, filing, faxing, ordering supplies, and completing forms
  • Composes and proofreads letters and reports
  • Maintains clean work area and communicates equipment problems
  • Handles special projects as assigned
  • Engages in continuous study to maintain competence
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation
  • Treats patients and colleagues with kindness and respect
  • Maintains provider schedules and prints physician daily schedules
  • Runs reports from MISYS/Tiger system
  • Prepares deposits and verifies accuracy
  • Performs other duties assigned by physician or practice manager
  • Maintains unsupervised access to unit medication room for stocking and retrieving supplies
