Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3-6 months of related experience
- Previous experience working with medical insurance highly preferred
- Keyboarding and computer skills
- Ability to file accurately
- Professional communication and excellent customer service skills
- Ability to perform light clerical duties
- Previous computer experience with hospital-based programs such as Medic, Misys, Tiger or similar
- Proficient in organization, alphabetizing, and prioritizing tasks
- Excellent math skills and basic office equipment use
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical information
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain positive customer service
- Ability to establish effective working relations with staff and team environment
- Ability to handle mental and visual fatigue associated with computer work
- Physical ability to perform walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and light lifting
- Register patients/customers and confirm demographic and insurance information
- Complete all required fields in practice management system
- Determine patient co-payments and collect payments
- Enter charges/payments into MISYS/Tiger system or other
- Prepare encounter forms with correct coding
- Schedule and coordinate appointments, tests, and referrals
- Answer phones and route calls in line with service standards
- Maintain patient medical records to required standards
- Obtain patient authorization for transfer of private health information
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Perform basic office duties like sorting mail, copying, filing, faxing, ordering supplies
- Compose and proofread letters and reports
- Maintain clean work environment and report equipment issues
- Maintain accountability for special projects
- Perform assignments as directed by management
- Establish effective working relationships
- Engage in continuous learning and complete required training
- Ensure accurate documentation
- Treat patients and staff with kindness and respect

- Print physician daily schedules
- Run reports from practice management systems
