Job Description
CURTIS PPE Care is a specialized service provider dedicated to the care, maintenance, and repair of personal protective equipment (PPE) used by firefighters across multiple disciplines, including structural, wildland, industrial, and aviation firefighting. The company has established itself as a trusted expert in its field, operating six service centers in the Western United States, including locations in Henderson, NV; Dublin, CA; Santa Fe Springs, CA; Kent, WA; Salt Lake City, UT; and Gilbert, AZ. With a strong commitment to supporting first responders, CURTIS PPE Care ensures that every piece of firefighting gear meets the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance to protect those who risk their lives to keep communities safe.
CURTIS PPE Care is currently seeking an Assistant Manager to join their Kent, Washington location. This is a full-time position offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $24 to $29, depending on experience. The role centers on operational excellence within the company’s high-volume PPE production warehouse, where the flawless care and processing of firefighting equipment are critical.
The Assistant Manager will play a crucial role in partnering with the Branch Manager to lead a dynamic and highly effective team focused on delivering best-in-class service to first responders. This position demands a strong operational focus combined with leadership skills to coordinate daily workflows efficiently. Duties will include overseeing production, coordinating schedules, training team members, and solving problems that arise to ensure timely and accurate processing of PPE orders.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a structured, process-driven environment that requires precision, consistency, and independent decision-making. The Assistant Manager will manage repeatable workflows while applying sound judgment to achieve compliance with NFPA standards and customer-specific requirements. The position offers extensive opportunities to master complex systems, optimize operational efficiency, and take pride in delivering reliable, high-quality results every day.
The work environment in the Kent warehouse is fast-paced and physically active. The Assistant Manager will work hands-on with firefighter PPE, which involves inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining gear to stringent safety standards. The position requires standing and moving for prolonged periods, handling industrial cleaning agents, and managing equipment critical to the laundry and repair process. The candidate will also have responsibilities for safety and quality control, data entry, facility organization, and logistics including shipping, receiving, and pickups or deliveries to fire stations.
At CURTIS PPE Care, the commitment to safety, compliance, and quality is paramount. The Assistant Manager will help uphold these values by training their team, maintaining detailed records, and ensuring all activities meet or exceed internal and industry standards. Strong attention to detail, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a dedication to continuous improvement are essential for success in this role. The company values a culture where clear communication, feedback, and structured workflows enable the team to consistently meet demanding deadlines while supporting the safety of firefighters through exceptional equipment care.
As an equal opportunity employer and participant in the E-Verify program, CURTIS PPE Care offers a supportive and inclusive workplace. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, flexible spending and health savings accounts, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off, illustrating the company’s dedication to the well-being of its employees. This Assistant Manager role not only provides a meaningful career opportunity but also a chance to make a direct impact on first responder safety across multiple communities.
