Job Description

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a world-renowned pediatric treatment and research facility focused on catastrophic childhood diseases. Founded with a commitment to understanding and curing these devastating illnesses, St. Jude has become a beacon of hope for families and children battling life-threatening conditions. The institution is distinguished by its collaborative interdisciplinary environment, state-of-the-art facilities, and dedication to advancing medical science without charging families for treatment. Located in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Jude combines cutting-edge technology with compassionate care, driving breakthroughs in various fields of pediatric medicine including oncology, infectious diseases, and genetic disorders.

The Meyer Lab within the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is actively recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher or Staff Scientist to join their innovative team. This position is a full-time, in-person role based at the main campus in Memphis, TN. The lab's focus is on revolutionizing the discovery and clinical deployment of drug combinations, specifically targeting infectious diseases. Their work seamlessly integrates computational and experimental biology, leveraging high-throughput screening, sophisticated computational models, and systems biology to unravel the complex mechanisms of drug interactions in biological systems. Candidates with expertise in biofilm biology and quantitative microscopy are highly encouraged to apply, as these areas are integral to many of the lab's research endeavors.

This role offers a unique opportunity for highly motivated and creative scientists passionate about making significant advances in systems pharmacology and combination therapy. The successful candidate will have the freedom and support to lead independent research projects that align with the institution’s overarching mission of finding cures for catastrophic childhood diseases. In addition to cutting-edge scientific exploration, the position provides access to remarkable resources such as the High Throughput Bioscience Center and a high-performance computing environment with 5.3 PFLOPS of power and 150 PB of storage capacity. St. Jude ensures a highly collaborative, supportive work atmosphere where team-oriented, interdisciplinary efforts thrive.

The hospital offers a competitive compensation package, including postdoctoral salaries typically 20-25% above NIH guidelines, complemented by comprehensive benefits and robust opportunities for professional growth. Living in Memphis offers an affordable cost of living and a rich cultural experience, further enhancing the attractiveness of this position. Candidates will be required to submit a cover letter outlining research interests and career goals aligned with Meyer Lab projects, a curriculum vitae, and references. St. Jude fosters equal employment opportunities and encourages applications from diverse backgrounds.
