Job Description
Young Life is a nonprofit Christian organization committed to introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. Established with a strong foundation of evangelism and discipleship, Young Life operates through local communities and supportive staff members who passionately serve teens and their families. This ministry is deeply rooted in Christian beliefs and requires all employees to sign a Statement of Faith, reflecting their commitment to living and ministering in alignment with biblical principles. Young Life aims to foster spiritual growth, provide mentorship, and build relationships that support teens, particularly focusing on young women who are pregnant or parenting as part of its YoungLives ministry.
The YoungLives Coordinator position is a pivotal role within Young Life, designed to develop and sustain ministries aimed at pregnant and parenting teens. This role requires a servant-hearted individual who is passionate about proclaiming the gospel and supporting young mothers by creating safe, nurturing, and spiritually enriching environments. The role initially requires a commitment of 10 hours per week for the first three months, with potential to increase to 20 hours per week contingent on meeting fundraising goals. Coordinators also have a personal support goal of $1,000 per month. As an integral part of the Young Life mission, the coordinator will work closely with volunteers, parents, local schools, and community organizations to foster a ministry that meets the unique needs of young mothers.
In this role, the YoungLives Coordinator leads spiritual development efforts that include prayer, fellowship, and church participation. They are responsible for leading and equipping leaders, mentors, and volunteers through training, team building, and ongoing support. Fundraising and resource development are crucial components of the position, as coordinators actively raise financial support, engage donors, and build strategic community relationships to sustain the ministry. The coordinator is also hands-on in direct ministry activities such as contact work, organizing clubs, leading Campaigners meetings, and coordinating camping experiences for young moms and their children.
Additionally, the role demands strong administrative and organizational skills to manage finances, maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and uphold the health and safety standards of YoungLives. The coordinator is expected to participate in ongoing training and development opportunities provided by Young Life, including core training, regional events, and mission-wide staff conferences. A college degree is preferred, and prior experience as a staff associate is highly valued.
This position offers a unique opportunity to serve in a dynamic, faith-driven environment focused on making a tangible difference in the lives of young women and their children. The ideal candidate will have a strong personal faith, excellent communication skills, relational abilities with both adolescents and adults, and proven leadership capabilities. They should be goal-oriented, self-motivated, and ready to embrace both short and long-term assignments that advance the ministry objectives of Young Life's YoungLives program.
