Redwood Communities, Inc. The Porter position at Redwood Communities plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and visual appeal of the property’s grounds and common areas. This full-time, Monday through Friday role from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. typically pays between $17 and $18 per hour and directly supports the property maintenance team. Responsibilities include routine landscaping tasks like mowing, trimming, watering, and maintaining flower beds, as well as general upkeep such as cleaning walkways, parking lots, and other exterior areas. The Porter also assists with snow removal when necessary and is responsible for the care and maintenance of landscaping tools and equipment. In addition to outdoor tasks, the role includes janitorial duties in common areas such as sweeping, trash removal, and minor property repairs.
Candidates in this role must be organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills and a high degree of professionalism, ethics, and integrity are essential to ensuring Redwood Communities delivers a welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike. Previous experience with groundskeeping or general maintenance is preferred, along with a basic understanding of common repair tasks in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in groundskeeping or general maintenance preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs is a plus
- Valid driver’s license and insurance required
- Successful completion of background check
- Must be legally qualified to work in the U.S. meeting I-9 guidelines

Job Duties
- Perform regular landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, watering lawns and plants, and maintaining flower beds
- Keep walkways, driveways, parking lots, and other exterior areas free of debris
- Assist with snow removal during winter months if applicable
- Maintain landscaping tools and equipment to ensure proper care and upkeep
- Report maintenance concerns or repair needs to the Property Manager and perform minor repairs as assigned
- Sweep and clean common areas including entrances, hallways, and recreational spaces
- Empty trash receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas
- Assist maintenance staff with various duties as needed to ensure efficient and effective property operations
