Job Description

AutoNation is one of the largest automotive retailers in the United States, renowned for offering innovative products, exceptional services, and comprehensive automotive solutions. With a nationwide network of dealerships, AutoNation empowers customers to make informed decisions regarding their automotive needs by providing a diverse range of new and used vehicles, customer financing options, parts, and expert maintenance and repair services. The company prides itself on fostering a culture of inclusion, diversity, and equity in its workplace environment. It actively engages in community support through initiatives like DRV PNK, a mission dedicated to raising millions of dollars for cancer research and treatment, partnering with cancer charities across the nation. This mission highlights AutoNation's commitment to making a meaningful impact on the lives of its associates, customers, and the wider community.

The Service Porter role at AutoNation is a vital position ensuring the smooth operation of the service department and the maintenance of vehicle presentation and customer satisfaction. This role involves a wide range of responsibilities related to the care, inspection, and transportation of vehicles throughout the dealership and service process. Service Porters assist with service write-ups and tagging of vehicles, ensuring that each car or truck is correctly identified and processed. They are responsible for removing protective coverings and identification tags before returning vehicles to customers, emphasizing attention to detail and vehicle condition. Another critical aspect of the role is inspecting vehicles for cleanliness, stains, debris, or damages, and promptly reporting any issues to maintain high standards of vehicle quality.

Service Porters are also tasked with transporting customers and dealership personnel as needed, performing deliveries, and maintaining the cleanliness and order of the vehicle lot according to dealership display standards. Their duties extend to returning vehicle keys to the appropriate service consultants, picking up and delivering vehicles to storage, and collecting parts from the Parts Department. Battery testing for customer vehicles in the service drive is another technical duty, alongside maintaining the building and grounds and assisting with shop clean-up and deliveries when necessary.

This role requires a valid driver's license and the ability to operate automobiles, including manual transmission vehicles, which underscores the importance of hands-on driving proficiency. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for interacting with customers and team members, alongside demonstrated customer service capabilities. Candidates should be capable of handling machinery safely while following written instructions and maintaining a proactive approach to their responsibilities.

AutoNation offers exciting benefits to its employees, including competitive compensation and 401k matching, comprehensive insurance plans covering health, dental, and vision, as well as maternity benefits. Employees also enjoy associate purchase and discount programs on new and pre-owned vehicles, services, parts, collision, accessories, and AutoGear products. Additionally, the YouDecide platform provides access to exclusive deals and discounts from top providers and retailers. Joining AutoNation means becoming part of a team dedicated to revolutionizing the automotive industry while fostering a workplace that champions innovation, teamwork, and a genuine commitment to positive societal impact. Candidates from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about contributing to a culture of belonging and making a meaningful difference are highly encouraged to apply, even if they do not meet every stated requirement.
