Job Description

Redwood Communities, Inc. ("Redwood Communities"), an affiliate of Redwood Housing, is a leading multifamily property management organization dedicated to managing affordable housing communities across the United States. With a strong commitment to improving the standard of living for residents, Redwood Communities has built a reputation for excellence by assembling a best-in-class team and fostering strong partnerships with government agencies and reputable non-profit organizations. Their extensive portfolio continues to grow, reflecting their ongoing dedication to providing safe, affordable, and well-maintained housing options that residents can be proud to call home.

Redwood Communities focuses on operating with integrity, professionalism, and a resident-centered approach. The organization is known for its comprehensive benefits package, competitive pay, and supportive work environment that values employee growth and well-being. Each property under their management benefits from consistent attention to maintenance, safety, and community engagement, which helps create thriving neighborhoods that enhance the quality of life for everyone involved.

The Porter position at Redwood Communities plays a vital role in sustaining the quality and appearance of the property’s grounds and common areas. This full-time, Monday through Friday role (8 am - 5 pm) offers a competitive hourly pay range of $21 to $24 and supports the maintenance team by performing routine landscaping, janitorial tasks, and minor repair duties. The Porter ensures the property remains a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for residents and visitors alike.

The main responsibilities of the Porter include landscaping and grounds maintenance such as mowing, trimming, watering, and flower bed upkeep to maintain an attractive outdoor space. The role also involves keeping all exterior areas like walkways, driveways, and parking lots clear of debris and assisting with snow removal during winter months. Proper care and maintenance of landscaping tools and equipment are expected, along with reporting any maintenance issues to the Property Manager and carrying out minor repairs when necessary.

In addition to outdoor duties, the Porter is responsible for janitorial tasks such as sweeping common areas, emptying trash, and ensuring cleanliness in entrances, hallways, and recreational spaces to provide a pleasant environment for everyone. The Porter supports the broader maintenance team by assisting with various duties and collaborating professionally, contributing to the smooth, efficient operation of the property.

Successful candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills, be proactive, organized, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. High professionalism, ethics, and integrity are critical attributes for thriving in this role.

Working at Redwood Communities means joining a team that values diversity and equal opportunity, emphasizing a culture of inclusion and mutual respect. The organization offers exceptional medical benefits with most premiums covered, company-paid dental and vision coverage, flexible spending accounts, life and voluntary insurance options, a generous 401(k) program with employer match, employee assistance counseling services, paid time off, and holidays that support work-life balance.

This position is an excellent opportunity for those with a background or interest in groundskeeping, maintenance, and landscaping, seeking stability and growth within a respected property management company dedicated to affordable housing. Redwood Communities is committed to supporting its employees and residents alike, ensuring that every community is well-cared-for and welcoming. Candidates who meet the requirements and share these values are encouraged to apply and become part of a team that makes a positive impact every day.
