The hiring establishment is a residential property management company that specializes in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of community buildings and properties. This company is committed to providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for its residents and visitors by employing skilled maintenance personnel who ensure that all aspects of the property are well-maintained.
This particular position is for a Porter role, a vital part of the property maintenance team. As a Porter, the employee will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties across assigned buildings or properties. The role requires advanced training and demonstrated skills to manage both indoor and outdoor areas effectively, ensuring all spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. The position is part-time, non-exempt, with work hours ranging from 20 to 29 hours per week, and offers a competitive hourly wage between $20.00 and $22.00, paid bi-weekly.
The individual serving as a Porter will be responsible for tasks including sweeping, mopping, shampooing carpets, dusting, polishing surfaces, disposing of trash, replacing light bulbs, and cleaning windows. The role demands a high level of attention to detail, as the Porter must inspect all assigned areas daily and report any cleaning or maintenance discrepancies to their supervisor. Duties also include ensuring all cleaning solutions are handled according to OSHA guidelines, maintaining the supply of sanitary and cleaning products, and operating new equipment safely and effectively.
The Porter must also maintain a friendly and professional attitude, uphold security procedures, and work cooperatively with building staff. Specific responsibilities include emergency cleaning, floor finishing and burnishing, restroom cleaning tasks such as sweeping and mopping floors, refilling dispensers, and thoroughly cleaning all restroom fixtures.
Physical demands of the role are significant; candidates must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds following safety procedures, stand for extended periods, crawl into tight spaces, work under various environmental conditions, and navigate the property efficiently. The ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to three feet above ground level is also required.
The company values effective communication and customer service skills, requiring the Porter to demonstrate strong interpersonal capabilities. Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, with previous custodial experience preferred but not mandatory.
Overall, this Porter role offers an opportunity to work in a supportive environment with supplemental benefits such as dental and vision insurance choices. The company emphasizes the importance of safety, professionalism, and responsiveness in its maintenance staff. Additionally, the company utilizes an Automated Employment Decision Tool (AEDT) to objectively evaluate candidates based on relevant job-related characteristics. The employer provides accommodations for applicants with disabilities and complies with local employment laws concerning employment practices and candidate rights.
