We are currently seeking a dependable and hardworking Porter / Make Ready Technician for a multifamily apartment community located in Austin, TX. This position is a temp-to-hire opportunity, offering a chance to join a fast-paced environment where teamwork and attention to detail are paramount. The role is primarily Monday through Friday, offering a consistent weekday schedule that supports work-life balance.
The Porter / Make Ready Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of the property. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work, ensuring that vacant apartment homes are fully prepared and in excellent condition for new resident move-ins. This involves completing make-ready tasks efficiently and to a high standard, including performing basic maintenance duties such as electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and painting. Additionally, the technician will assist with troubleshooting and repairing common issues related to showers, sinks, appliances, doors, cabinets, walls, and building exteriors.
Working closely with the property manager and the maintenance team, the Porter / Make Ready Technician supports unit turns and exterior property upkeep. This role requires the candidate to prioritize daily tasks effectively and communicate proactively to ensure smooth operations within the community. The position suits a motivated team player with experience in maintenance, handyman services, remodeling, or general labor, who is comfortable handling diverse responsibilities.

Job Requirements

- dependable and hard-working
- previous experience in a maintenance or related role
- ability to work Monday through Friday
- physically able to perform labor-intensive tasks
- ability to follow safety guidelines
- valid identification and authorization to work in the United States

Job Duties
- ensure all vacant apartments are fully restored to make ready status for new resident move-in
- perform basic maintenance tasks including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and painting
- troubleshoot and repair items such as showers, sinks, appliances, doors, cabinets, walls, and building exteriors
- assist with the exterior upkeep of buildings and community grounds
- help maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the property
- diagnose and assist with appliance repair, troubleshooting, and installation
- prioritize daily workload and coordinate with the property manager as needed
- support the maintenance team with additional porter, make ready, and general property duties as assigned
