The Porter role at The Scion Group is a vital position responsible for maintaining the outdoor features and common areas of residential student housing properties to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This role emphasizes adherence to The Scion Group's Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA guidelines, and industry standards to uphold property quality and safety. The Porter undertakes physically demanding tasks such as landscaping, lawn care, snow and ice removal, and trash disposal to preserve pristine outdoor spaces that contribute to a positive resident experience. Beyond outdoor maintenance, this position includes responsibilities related to the upkeep of common facilities, including pools, spas, club rooms, parking lots, restrooms, and exterior lighting. The role may also involve assisting with various maintenance needs, cleaning, and moving services, always with a professional approach focused on resident satisfaction. This role demands a customer-centric mindset, solution-oriented approach, strong interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to motivate oneself and others. The Porter is expected to operate efficiently, ensuring that all aspects of the property's outdoor and common spaces meet high standards of care and safety. This includes performing routine yet critical maintenance tasks such as repairing exterior lighting, mowing lawns, pruning shrubs, adjusting irrigation systems, pressure washing, snow removal, and pool equipment maintenance. Candidates with a High School or GED diploma, relevant experience in grounds maintenance, and a willingness to adapt to variable work hours—including weekends and emergencies—will find this role both challenging and rewarding. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification is preferred but not mandatory.
