The role of Floor Technician is a full-time position requiring commitment every other weekend, playing a crucial part in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the physical plant and facility environment. The Floor Tech is entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring optimal functioning and upkeep of all housekeeping equipment used within the facility. This position demands vigilance and attention to detail to assure that resident areas remain clean, orderly, and safe at all times. The Floor Technician must frequently inspect and monitor equipment such as buffers and vacuums for safety, ensuring cords are managed properly to prevent any hazards. Additionally, the role includes overseeing the sanitation and organization of storage areas, janitor closets, and housekeeping equipment, ensuring that chemicals are correctly labeled and stored in designated areas.

Infection control is another critical aspect of this role. The Floor Technician is accountable for continuously preventing the spread of infection within the facility by adhering to strict sanitation protocols and maintaining clean equipment and environments. The individual must also adhere to body mechanics procedures to ensure personal safety while handling heavy or cumbersome equipment. Reporting any equipment failure promptly to supervisors is essential to avoid disruptions in facility operations and maintain safety standards.

The Floor Technicians work under the direction of the Environmental Service Supervisor and the facility Plant Manager, ensuring that all duties are performed according to the facility's policies and guidelines. They also play a vital role in maintaining environmental safety measures such as placing wet floor signs and managing equipment cords safely. The role involves physical demands, including frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pushing vacuum equipment, pulling, carrying, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The position requires a reliable individual who can work independently with minimal supervision while following directions effectively to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety within the healthcare environment.
