The role of the Porter (Custodial) at AEG is a critical position ensuring the cleanliness, upkeep, and overall maintenance of all areas across the venue. This includes spaces like the main floor, balcony, backstage areas, bathrooms, and bars among others. The Porter’s responsibilities extend beyond basic cleaning; they are also tasked with essential maintenance duties such as changing lightbulbs, conducting light construction work like painting and minor repairs, restocking cleaning supplies, and sometimes handling more extensive repair needs. The role demands high attention to detail and adherence to strict cleanliness and safety standards to ensure every event runs smoothly and that the venue remains in top condition.

Porters are integral to post-event cleanup operations, which involve a thorough cleaning routine including sweeping, mopping, emptying trash and replacing liners, wiping surfaces, handling spills, and other housekeeping duties that prepare the space for the next event. They are also responsible for inspecting their areas before and during events to identify any potential hazards or facility issues, promptly reporting these to Supervisors or Managers. The position requires a proactive, reliable individual who can work in a fast-paced, loud environment and maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude. Physical stamina is important as the role involves standing for long periods, walking, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance. Shift hours can include nights, weekends, and holidays, requiring flexibility and a readiness to meet varied scheduling demands.

AEG offers a competitive pay scale for this part-time role, ranging from $17.87 to $18.00 per hour. While this position is not eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan, it may qualify for benefits under the ACA due to its part-time status.
