Job Description
The Dinerstein Companies (TDC) is one of the nation’s largest multi-family and student housing community developers with a remarkable legacy spanning over sixty years. With a portfolio that includes more than 75,000 multi-family apartments and 44,000 student housing beds across 26 states, TDC has established itself as a leader in the real estate development, construction, and property management sectors. Unlike many competitors, TDC is an integrated company, managing every aspect of the apartment community lifecycle — from groundbreaking to tenancy — with a commitment to quality, innovation, and genuine hospitality. Their properties range from luxury mid-rise and high-rise residences to cutting-edge off-campus student housing, reflecting a deep expertise in creating vibrant living spaces for diverse residents.
TDC prides itself not just on its impressive numbers, but on its culture of authentic care and customer service. Each day, the company renews its mission of building lasting relationships between residents, employees, and the community. This ethos sets TDC apart as more than a management company; it is a hospitality-driven enterprise where every interaction is infused with warmth and respect. The team’s dedication to excellence is evident in the positive feelings residents experience during every encounter. TDC’s Core Values anchor all employees to this mission, ensuring a consistent, family-like atmosphere throughout its properties.
The Porter role at TDC embodies this spirit by serving as an essential member of the on-site maintenance team. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, the Porter supports day-to-day property upkeep to help maintain immaculate indoor and outdoor spaces. This position offers a unique blend of responsibilities that blend housekeeping, grounds maintenance, customer service, and even transportation services, making it ideal for candidates eager to combine their love of tidiness and nature with meaningful resident interactions. The Porter's work ensures that residents enjoy welcoming, clean environments that truly feel like home.
As a Porter, individuals are responsible for reviewing property conditions regularly, preparing vacant units for move-ins, supporting the management team’s customer service culture, maintaining cleanliness of grounds and common areas, managing trash operations, and assisting with shuttle driving duties when required. Additionally, light maintenance tasks such as painting common spaces and assisting with various readying projects contribute to the overall appearance and function of the property. This role offers hands-on experience in property maintenance while providing an opportunity to interact with residents in a positive and impactful way.
TDC seeks candidates who are motivated and ready to learn, even offering on-the-job training for those without extensive prior experience. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are necessary for shuttle and driving responsibilities. While preference is given to those with at least one year of housekeeping or maintenance experience, the company values attitude and commitment above all. The environment at TDC nurtures growth and collaboration, encouraging employees to contribute ideas and enjoy a workplace that balances professionalism with camaraderie.
Working at The Dinerstein Companies comes with best-in-class benefits, underscoring their commitment to employee well-being and success. Competitive compensation packages are complemented by comprehensive health coverage — including medical, dental, and vision insurance — as well as retirement planning options with employer matching. Life and disability insurance provide security, while flexible financial accounts like health savings and flexible spending accounts offer additional support. Paid time off, flexible schedules, and remote work choices help promote work-life balance, demonstrating that TDC truly values its people as much as its properties.
