Job Description

Aramark is a leading global provider of food, facilities, and uniform services, proudly serving millions of guests daily in 15 countries worldwide. Known for its commitment to service excellence and sustainability, Aramark strives to create meaningful experiences for partners, communities, and employees by fostering a culture rooted in respect, diversity, and professional growth. The company emphasizes equal employment opportunity and is dedicated to providing an inclusive workplace where all employees can thrive irrespective of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender, pregnancy, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, military status, or veteran status. Aramark believes in empowering its workforce by offering career development opportunities, competitive compensation, and comprehensive benefits that support employees both professionally and personally.

The Porter role at Aramark is a crucial position within its convention center operations, specifically associated with the Retail Foods department. This role is primarily focused on ensuring the accurate and timely movement of supplies and food items to various retail stands and mobile locations throughout the convention center. The work setting is events-based, meaning the schedule will vary, and porters typically work around 6 to 8 events annually. Candidates will submit their availability, which will be considered for scheduling purposes. This role is unionized under Unite Here Local 11, with a structured wage progression starting at 80% of the negotiated pay rate, moving to 90% after 20 shifts, and 100% after 40 shifts. The starting hourly wage is approximately $21.80, reflecting Aramark’s commitment to fair compensation.

In this role, Porters are responsible for receiving and inspecting incoming products, promptly and accurately labeling items, and resolving any discrepancies in delivery invoices. They organize all incoming supplies using first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory methods to manage perishable goods efficiently. Porters may also be required to operate manual and electric pallet jacks or forklifts, emphasizing the physical and technical nature of the job. Another key component of the role includes assembling orders based on requisitions or predetermined par levels, ensuring that retail stands are well-stocked and ready for business.

The role demands strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures to maintain high standards of accuracy and productivity. Porters will load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse and other client locations using carts, powered industrial vehicles, or motor vehicles when necessary. Routine physical inventory counts and detailed administrative duties—such as completing inventory documents, logging temperatures and spoilage, and inspecting equipment—are also vital responsibilities. Maintaining cleanliness and safety in various work areas, including restrooms, loading docks, and freight platforms, is mandatory, along with strict compliance with OSHA standards, safety policies, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Additionally, Porters act as representatives of Aramark, interacting professionally with clients, employees, vendors, and guests, attending meetings as required. The dynamic, event-based atmosphere of the convention center ensures that Porters must be adaptable and dependable, ready to meet the demands of an evolving work schedule. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a physically engaging, team-oriented position within a respected global company committed to employee growth, equal opportunity, and community impact.
