The Porter position at RWB Thrift serves as the critical air-traffic controller of the backroom. This role is essential in supporting the production staff by anticipating their supply needs and maintaining the organization and safety of the production floor. Porters are responsible for the timely availability and proper placement of supplies, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring an orderly workflow. Their attention to detail enhances productivity and ensures a positive working atmosphere for the production team.

As a Porter, you will be tasked with several vital duties, including loading and unloading items like furniture, clothing boxes, and other donated goods safely and efficiently from trucks or trailers. You will organize and document delivered items and move them to designated areas within the store. Your role also includes operating the trash compactor to manage waste, keeping the workspace clean and orderly. Furthermore, you will oversee supply management in the backroom by receiving, organizing, and replenishing essential items such as hangers, sensors, racks, carts, and bins, ensuring the production floor is always stocked.

The work environment consists of bright lighting and a noisy, fast-paced atmosphere, which necessitates flexibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with customers, donors, and team members. Physical demands of the position include lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity and fine motor skills. This job requires balance and agility to work safely on various surfaces.
