The role of Porter at Asset Living is pivotal in supporting the company’s mission by ensuring that building maintenance and community upkeep are handled meticulously. Operating under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and Community Manager, the Porter helps carry out corrective, preventative, routine, and cosmetic maintenance tasks. This includes responsibilities such as routine cleaning, trash removal, and maintenance of the grounds, buildings, breezeways, and other interior and exterior community areas. The position demands a high level of attentiveness to detail to maintain a safe and visually appealing environment for residents and visitors alike.

The Porter plays an essential role in the Make-Ready process, preparing units and common areas to meet the property’s operational standards, which directly influences resident satisfaction and the overall perception of the community. Daily inspections are conducted to identify safety hazards or liability concerns, and the Porter contributes to preventive maintenance programs designed to prolong the life of community assets while minimizing costly repairs in the future. The role also involves maintaining a well-organized and stocked maintenance shop, adhering strictly to safety protocols and OSHA guidelines, and assisting in the enforcement of community rules and policies.

Excellent interpersonal skills are a key requirement as the Porter interacts regularly with residents and management, ensuring exceptional customer service and responsiveness to service requests. This role requires a consistent and professional approach when working with the community, projecting a positive image and supporting the property’s objectives. The Porter is also expected to participate in on-call emergency duties, which involves working overtime, weekends, or night hours as necessary to address urgent community needs.
