Job Description

New Destiny is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to ending the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness for low-income families and individuals in New York City. As the largest provider of supportive housing for domestic violence survivors in New York and a leading advocate for family homelessness resources, New Destiny has a profound impact on the community it serves. The organization builds and manages housing units equipped with on-site services and offers innovative programs aimed at assisting survivors in securing and maintaining affordable housing. By expanding access to permanent housing solutions, New Destiny provides a crucial safety net that helps survivors rebuild their lives in a safe and stable environment.

New Destiny is now seeking a dependable and motivated Part-Time Porter to join the Property Management department at The Corden located at 1115 East 165th Street, Bronx, NY. The Porter position plays a pivotal role in maintaining the cleanliness and overall functionality of the building. Reporting directly to the Building Superintendent, the Porter will carry out daily cleaning and maintenance tasks, ensuring that both interior and exterior spaces remain well-kept and inviting for tenants. This role requires a compassionate and trauma-informed approach, as the Porter will regularly interact with tenants who are survivors of domestic violence and other vulnerable individuals.

As a Part-Time Porter, your responsibilities will include cleaning and maintaining sidewalks, managing waste disposal and recycling, sweeping and mopping hallways and community areas, assisting with minor repairs, and supporting unit turnovers. You will also be expected to operate cleaning machinery safely and efficiently, handle equipment such as hand trucks and dollies, and respond to tenant needs with professionalism and care. The position requires physical stamina, the ability to work independently, and a keen eye for detail to uphold the high standards expected by New Destiny.

The hourly wage for this role is $20 per hour, making it an attractive opportunity for individuals seeking part-time work with a meaningful mission. The role includes paid holidays and opportunities for internal training to support ongoing professional development. Working at New Destiny offers the chance to contribute to a vital cause—helping to create safe, affordable housing environments where survivors of domestic violence can regain stability and thrive.

Joining New Destiny as a Part-Time Porter means becoming part of a compassionate team that values respect, dignity, and the empowerment of the people they serve. If you are reliable, honest, and eager to contribute your skills in a supportive and mission-driven organization, this role offers a fulfilling way to make a tangible difference in the Bronx community and beyond.
