The Porter position at CHI plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of the facility, particularly in the Eastchester neighborhood Bronx, New York. This role is highly valued as it ensures that the environment remains welcoming, safe, and hygienic for residents and visitors alike. The opportunity offers a competitive pay rate of $19.24 per hour, approximately $40,000 annually, and is designated as a non-exempt position eligible for overtime. The work schedule is flexible with shifts available from 4pm to 12am Sunday through Thursday (with Friday and Saturday off), 12am to 8am Tuesday through Saturday (with Sunday and Monday off), and 8am to 4pm Sunday through Thursday (with Friday and Saturday off), catering to varying availability and preferences.

The Porter job encompasses daily maintenance tasks crucial for the smooth operation of the facility. Responsibilities include thorough trash removal, supporting front lobby operations, and performing sweeping, cleaning, and mopping of rooms and communal areas as required. The incumbent must also adhere to all maintenance tasks as assigned by their supervisor, ensuring the facility remains in optimal condition. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year experience cleaning and sanitizing a residential or similar site preferred
  • F-02 or F80 Fire Safety Coordinator certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Proficiency in English required
  • Ability to make judgment calls, perform notifications, and make decisions
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 50lbs
  • Ability to walk distances and climb 2-4 flights of stairs
  • Willingness to work assigned shifts including evenings and early mornings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience cleaning and sanitizing residential or similar sites preferred
  • F-02 or F80 Fire Safety Coordinator certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Proficiency in English required
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to make sound judgment calls and appropriate decisions
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50lbs, walk long distances, and climb 2-4 flights of stairs

Job Duties

  • Perform trash removal
