The available position of Porter at Gerber Collision & Glass plays a vital role in maintaining the high standards of vehicle care and shop maintenance that the company is known for. This role is centered around complementing quality collision repairs by performing vehicle cleaning before delivery to customers and maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the repair shop and office facilities. The Porter is responsible for daily housekeeping tasks both inside the office and production areas, including emptying garbage, cleaning floors, dusting countertops, organizing tools and equipment, and ensuring outdoor areas are tidy and well-maintained. Additionally, the role includes pre-washing customer vehicles before repairs, cleaning vehicles after repairs, and safely transporting vehicles to sublet locations if needed.
This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The position demands physical activity such as lifting, walking, stooping, and operating a motor vehicle, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and meet other physical demands of the job. Ideal candidates will possess a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and basic automotive experience or knowledge. Job Duties
- Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan
- maintain the daily housekeeping of the interior of the office including emptying garbage cans, cleaning floors, and dusting countertops
- maintain the daily housekeeping of the production area such as emptying waste cans, sweeping floors, disposing of unwanted vehicle parts, and organizing tools and equipment
- maintain parking lots and grounds, including shoveling sidewalks when necessary
- pre-wash customer vehicles prior to repairs
- perform exterior and interior cleanup of customer vehicles after repairs
- transport customer vehicles to sublet locations for repairs
