Job Description
Asset Living is a highly respected third-party property management company known for fostering thriving communities across the United States. Established in 1986, Asset Living has grown organically from a small property management firm into one of the most trusted allies in real estate. The company manages a diverse portfolio of properties, including multifamily residential communities, single-family home rentals, affordable housing, build-to-rent properties, active adult communities, and student housing. Asset Living’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer service has helped it build an impressive reputation, earning recognitions such as being named one of the nation's Best and Brightest Places to Work and ranking in the National Multifamily Housing Council's (NMHC) top 50 professionals.
Asset Living values a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture where individual voices are heard and valued. Their core philosophy, "Together We Lead, Together We Succeed," encourages team members to lead by example, support one another, and continuously improve. The company empowers its employees to grow alongside the company by fostering an environment of unity and shared responsibility for success. Asset Living is also a proud member of The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and holds the Accredited Management Organization (AMO) status, underscoring their professionalism and high standards.
The Porter role at Asset Living is a critical position responsible for supporting the maintenance team in ensuring the property is well-maintained and safe. The Porter handles routine, preventative, corrective, and cosmetic maintenance tasks under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor and Community Manager. This role involves cleaning, trash removal, ground and building maintenance, and assisting with unit make-ready processes. The Porter helps uphold the community’s operational standards by responding promptly to maintenance requests, performing inspections to identify hazards, and helping to maintain a preventive maintenance program that extends the life and quality of the community.
This position requires a dependable individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to work onsite daily, often traversing various terrains and operating machinery or equipment. The Porter must be knowledgeable of Fair Housing Laws, OSHA requirements, and safety standards, as well as maintain a well-organized maintenance shop. Communication skills are essential, as the role involves interacting with residents and property management to deliver excellent customer service and ensure residents’ needs are addressed efficiently.
The physical nature of this role means the Porter should be prepared to perform tasks involving heavy lifting, climbing, frequent movement, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. On-call emergency participation is also a requirement, highlighting the importance of flexibility and responsiveness to community needs.
Asset Living offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $17 to $18 and provides its full-time employees a comprehensive total rewards package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, accidental, and disability insurance benefits, a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching, paid sick days, company holidays, and eligibility for commission and performance bonuses.
Joining Asset Living as a Porter means becoming part of a dynamic and growing company dedicated to real estate excellence and community service where employee contributions are valued and career growth is encouraged. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on residents’ quality of life while working for an industry-leading company that prioritizes safety, teamwork, and professional development.
