Job Description
The hiring establishment is a reputable organization based in Bronx, NY, dedicated to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for its occupants and visitors. The company operates within the building maintenance sector, with a strong emphasis on maintaining both indoor and outdoor common areas to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. Known for its commitment to staff welfare and community safety, the organization provides excellent benefits and competitive compensation for its employees.
This employment opportunity is for a full-time Porter role, boasting a weekly schedule from Tuesday to Saturday, 8AM to 4PM, with an annual salary range of $34,580 to $36,400 depending on experience. The position is vital in ensuring that all common areas within the building — such as dining areas, bathrooms, elevators, lobbies, hallways, waiting areas, roofs, and laundry rooms — remain clean, sanitized, and orderly. Additionally, this role involves maintenance duties like servicing air conditioners, changing fuses and ceiling tiles, and unclogging drains, which contribute to the overall functionality and safety of the building.
The successful candidate will play an essential role in safety procedures by checking smoke detectors, emergency lighting, and fire exit locks regularly, as well as assisting with fire drills. They are expected to set up necessary equipment for events, maintain inventory controls by tagging fixed assets, and support tenants with moving needs. This job requires attention to detail to keep walls free from graffiti and maintain windows and other surfaces.
Moreover, the Porter ensures the safe disposal of trash and the safekeeping of entrances by removing snow during storms and applying salt to prevent slips. The role comes with responsibilities that support the well-being of both the staff and residents, including posting safety signs during cleaning activities and deputizing for other Porters when necessary. Emergency response presence on-site is also part of this critical position.
The company is proud to offer generous time off—including four weeks of vacation—as well as a comprehensive benefits package that covers medical, dental, and vision insurance, discounted commuter benefits, life insurance, long-term disability coverage, and eligibility for the Federal Student Loan Repayment Program. Continuous training and additional voluntary benefits reflect the employer's commitment to growth and development.
Applicants are encouraged to submit their resumes with salary requirements to be considered for the role. The organization supports equal employment opportunities for minorities, women, disabled individuals, and veterans, emphasizing diversity and inclusion within its workforce.
