Job Description

Carlock Automotive Group has established a prestigious presence in the automotive industry with over 50 years of trusted service. Originating as a family business in Arkansas, it has expanded into a multi-state network with locations across Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana. Representing 17 premier automotive brands, Carlock is known for cultivating a dynamic and exciting work environment dedicated to excellence in sales, service, and financing. As a family-owned company spanning three generations, the Carlock family has developed a reputation for professionalism, outstanding customer satisfaction, and a strong commitment to career development for its employees. This legacy and dedication to quality create a unique workplace culture where team members are empowered to achieve their professional goals while contributing to the company’s overall success.

The porter/sales assistant role at Carlock Automotive Group is a critical position that supports Sales Consultants through various essential tasks that ultimately drive sales, though it does not involve closing sales directly. This role demands a motivated and results-driven individual who thrives in an automotive environment and understands the importance of vehicle preparation and inventory maintenance. As a Porter, you will be responsible for ensuring that all demonstration vehicles and sold inventory are properly maintained, clean, and ready for customer delivery or showroom display. Your day-to-day activities will include preparing demo vehicles, retrieving cars from inventory, filling vehicles with gas, performing car washes, and keeping all cars in showroom-ready condition. Additionally, you will help transport vehicles to clients or offsite locations for further work, assist with monthly physical inventory counts, and participate in regular departmental meetings to stay informed and aligned with team goals.

Success in this position requires more than just technical skills; it demands excellent people skills and a genuine commitment to servicing the client with a positive and collaborative attitude. The job also requires the ability to drive vehicles equipped with manual transmissions, which sets it apart from other automotive roles. Candidates with a high school diploma or GED, coupled with relevant experience or training in automotive services, will excel in this role. Carlock Automotive Group values teamwork and fosters a supportive environment where individuals can grow both personally and professionally.

Carlock believes in continuous learning and development for its employees. As part of the family, you will have access to ongoing training programs, including manufacturer-sponsored courses and annual professional development opportunities. This commitment to employee growth is paired with competitive benefits that support your overall well-being and work-life balance. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, paid time off, supplemental insurance policies, 401(k) retirement plans, and paid holidays. In joining Carlock Automotive Group, you become part of a company that not only prioritizes the customer experience but also invests deeply in the success and satisfaction of its workforce. This compelling combination makes the Porter/Sales Assistant role at Carlock an excellent opportunity for those passionate about automotive careers and seeking long-term growth in a family-focused and respected organization.
