Job Description
Asset Living is a well-established third-party property management firm that has been fostering thriving communities nationwide since its founding in 1986. Over the decades, Asset Living has grown organically from a small property management office into one of the most trusted and recognized partners in the real estate industry. The company manages a diverse portfolio that includes multifamily housing, single-family home rentals, affordable housing, build-to-rent communities, active adult living, and student housing developments across the United States. Asset Living prides itself on its commitment to delivering exceptional value to its partners through innovative management solutions and unparalleled customer service.
At the heart of Asset Living's success is a culture that emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and continuous growth. The company embraces diversity and inclusion, welcoming talented individuals from various backgrounds who contribute unique perspectives and skills. Operating under the guiding principle 'Together We Lead, Together We Succeed,' Asset Living fosters an environment where every voice is heard, every idea is valued, and every team member is empowered to lead and evolve. This supportive culture not only drives success for the company but also encourages personal and professional development for all employees.
Asset Living is widely recognized as a top employer in its field, honored as one of the nation’s Best and Brightest Places to Work and ranked among the NMHC top 50 professionals. The firm holds membership in The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and has earned the Accredited Management Organization (AMO) designation, attesting to its commitment to excellence and professional standards. Employees benefit from a collaborative and rewarding work environment where success is a collective endeavor and leadership responsibilities are shared.
The position of Porter at Asset Living is a critical role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and overall appeal of the managed communities. The Porter supports the maintenance team by assisting with corrective, preventive, routine, and cosmetic maintenance tasks across the property. Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and Community Manager, the Porter helps ensure the property meets operational standards and is inviting for residents and visitors alike.
This role involves regular daily onsite attendance and requires a hands-on approach to maintaining grounds, buildings, breezeways, and all common areas within the community. Responsibilities include cleaning, trash removal, responding promptly to resident and management requests, conducting inspections to minimize hazards, and assisting in preventative maintenance programs to preserve the property’s condition for the long term. The Porter plays an essential role in making units ready for new residents, ensuring repairs and replacements are completed efficiently.
Beyond maintenance duties, the Porter represents the community’s commitment to excellent customer service. The role demands a focus on fostering positive resident relations by responding promptly to requests, projecting a favorable image of the community, and consistently enforcing community policies. Safety is paramount, with adherence to OSHA standards and company policies a key aspect of the Porter’s responsibilities.
Physical demands are considerable; the position requires mobility across varying terrain, the ability to perform physically intensive tasks such as lifting heavy objects, operating machinery, and exposure to diverse weather conditions and potentially hazardous chemicals. Flexibility is important as the Porter may be called on for emergency on-call duties, including nights and weekends.
Asset Living offers a competitive compensation package for this role, with a salary range of $17 to $20 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Full-time employees are eligible for comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, accidental, and disability insurance, 401(k) with employer matching, paid sick days, company holidays, and potential commissions and performance bonuses. The company values each employee’s contribution and provides opportunities for growth and advancement within its dynamic team environment.
