Job Description

South Port Square is a distinguished senior living community located on a sprawling 40-acre campus in beautiful Port Charlotte, Florida, near Charlotte Harbor and Punta Gorda. Known as one of Florida's best-kept secrets, this community has been dedicated to serving retirees and seniors for over 35 years. Managed by Life Care Services (LCS), the nation's leading developer and manager of senior living communities, South Port Square prides itself on fostering an environment built on trust, transparency, and genuine care. As part of a network of twelve retirement communities in Florida under LCS management, South Port Square emphasizes creating meaningful experiences for its residents through dedicated, hospitality-driven professionals.

At South Port Square, the team is united by a strong work ethic and a commitment to positively impacting the lives of senior residents. The management team, alongside co-workers, creates a supportive atmosphere where employees are encouraged to find purpose and achieve their highest potential. This community-focused and inclusive work environment values each individual's contribution and provides continuous opportunities for growth and professional development.

The role of a Porter at South Port Square is vital to maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and care expected within this senior living community. The Porter is responsible for major floor care projects and trash disposal—a role that supports the community’s overall ambience, safety, and comfort. This position is full-time with a starting wage of $15.50 per hour, making it an accessible career opportunity for those passionate about hospitality and senior engagement.

Porters play an essential part in ensuring the environment remains pleasant and well-maintained. Their daily responsibilities include maintaining floors and carpets throughout the community, promptly removing major trash, and ensuring all equipment and supplies are properly maintained and ready for use. The position also requires participation in in-service training and education sessions to maintain compliance with community standards and enhance job performance.

South Port Square seeks candidates who are enthusiastic and compassionate with a genuine desire to contribute to the well-being of senior residents. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with the ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively. While previous floor maintenance experience is preferred, it is not a requirement, allowing individuals with a passion for hospitality and willingness to learn to thrive in this role.

The community offers an extensive benefits package that supports the health, financial security, and overall well-being of its employees. These include a 401K plan with employer match, dental insurance, health insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, paid time off, daily pay options, and an extraordinary rewards program that celebrates contributions and achievements. South Port Square also fosters a fun, caring, and inclusive work environment where every employee is valued.

Additionally, the role requires a background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse to ensure compliance and the safety of the residents. South Port Square is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in its hiring practices.

By joining South Port Square as a Porter, you become part of a reputable senior living community dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors while building a rewarding career in hospitality care. If you are someone who thrives in a supportive team environment and has a passion for maintaining a clean, welcoming space that positively impacts residents' daily lives, this opportunity may be the perfect fit for you.
