The Porter position at Jetro/Restaurant Depot plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of warehouse facilities. This full-time role is responsible for ensuring that all key areas in the warehouse are clean, safe, and free from any hazards that could affect customers or staff. The porter will rigorously monitor and manage sanitation and cleaning processes following the company’s HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) program guidelines. They will maintain daily sanitation and cleaning logs, verifying routine tasks to meet company safety standards. Beyond routine cleaning, the Porter may undertake additional responsibilities such as minor facility maintenance tasks including paint touch-ups, cleaning wet pallets, and maintaining lighting fixtures.

The role requires a proactive approach to keep all warehouse premises—including interior and exterior areas, restrooms, windows, doors, and break rooms—in optimal condition. Operators of the position will handle various equipment such as trash compactors, cardboard balers, and floor scrubbing machines to uphold cleanliness standards efficiently. This role demands physical endurance, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a keen eye for spotting potential hazards that could compromise safety.

Working closely with department managers and branch management, the Porter will assist with maintaining aisle cleanliness and contribute to the overall operational excellence of the facility. Aside from cleaning duties, the position involves operational support, focusing on sanitization compliance, effective waste management, and timely maintenance activities. This is an entry-level role well-suited for individuals with good communication skills, basic knowledge of sanitation procedures, and a willingness to operate cleaning machinery and equipment.

Job Duties

  • General sweeping of interior/exterior building premises
  • General cleaning and maintenance of all restrooms in facility
  • General cleaning of windows, doors, and coffee area as needed
  • Maintenance of all trash containers on premises
  • Operation of trash compactor, cardboard baler, and floor scrubbing machine as needed
  • General cleanup of spills as needed in the warehouse
  • General cleanup of employee break room as needed (per schedule)
  • Assist with department managers in aisle cleaning as needed
  • Ensure all HACCP guidelines and sanitation logs are verified as outlined
  • Assist management with other assigned duties as needed
