The Porter role at xAI is an entry-level position instrumental in supporting the company's food service and facility operations. This role encompasses maintaining cleanliness in various dining and break areas, restocking supplies, and assisting with day-to-day operational tasks as guided by the Hospitality Supervisor or Chef. The successful candidate will serve as an essential link in ensuring the environment remains safe, sanitary, and welcoming for all employees. Collaboration with food service teams such as baristas and kitchen staff is key to a smooth operation that meets California food safety standards. The Porter must demonstrate adaptability and attention to detail to handle the fast-paced demands of a corporate food service setting. Responsibilities include organizing deliveries and inventory using the FIFO method, supporting routine cleaning tasks like dishwashing and equipment maintenance, and assisting with catering setups when needed. The position requires the ability to work hands-on with kitchen and dining equipment, adhere to safety protocols, and contribute positively to team dynamics. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ year of experience in restaurant warehouse or customer service roles
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to carry large heavy items unassisted such as packages dishes in tubs or trays (up to 30 lbs)
  • ability to stand for long periods of time up to 8-10 hours a day
  • ability to perform frequent bending stooping and lifting of objects
  • must have or be able to attain a CA Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ year of experience in restaurant warehouse or customer service roles
  • valid driver's license
  • 2+ years of restaurant or porter experience (preferred)
  • experience with inventory management or stock rotation (preferred)
  • possession of or willingness to obtain a CA Food Handler Card (preferred)
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team and take initiative in a fast-paced environment (preferred)
  • basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices (preferred)
  • strong communication skills both written and verbal (preferred)
  • experience in a corporate or high-volume food service setting (preferred)

Job Duties

  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation in all onsite dining areas including the cafe breakrooms and beverage stations adhering to California food safety standards
  • assist with restocking supplies including food beverages and cleaning materials ensuring proper organization and availability
  • put food orders away accurately rotating stock in coolers freezers and dry storage areas using the first-in first-out (FIFO) method while monitoring shelf life and code dates
  • support daily weekly and monthly cleaning tasks such as dishwashing surface cleaning and equipment maintenance as assigned by leadership
  • coordinate job duties with food service teams to ensure efficient preparation for service opening
  • maintain a basic working knowledge of kitchen and dining equipment operation (e.g. dishwashers coffee machines)
  • follow company safety standards ensuring a safe environment for team members and employees
  • evaluate receiving and storage spaces to maintain a safe and secure environment
  • complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the hospitality supervisor or chef such as assisting with catering setup or porter duties
