The Night Porter role at Cogir Senior Living is a full-time position requiring the night shift, specifically four 10-hour shifts per week including weekends. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of the community’s general areas during nighttime hours, ensuring that the environment remains welcoming and well-maintained for residents and staff alike. The Night Porter is responsible for a variety of housekeeping and basic maintenance tasks, managing an array of duties that contribute significantly to the operational excellence of the senior living community.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of housekeeping experience in a senior living, healthcare, or hospitality setting is preferred
  • Prior maintenance experience and general maintenance skillset are a plus, including drywall repair and texturing, carpentry, painting, and floor care
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their uses, as well as cleaning equipment is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Friendly and professional demeanor
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards

Job Duties

  • Operate floor cleaning machines and clean hard surfaces and carpets as directed
  • Maintain all assigned areas in a clean and sanitary condition, including empty apartments, common areas, and outside spaces
  • Wash, sanitize, dust, polish, vacuum, mop, and sweep all areas of the establishment
  • Follow community cleaning schedule and protocol according to community guidelines and follow established safety precautions
  • Report all repair requests or safety hazards
  • Laundry duties as assigned
  • Ensure that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are always properly stored
  • Perform routine building maintenance rounds as directed, completing tasks such as painting, wall patching, floor care, pressure washing, and basic plumbing repairs
  • Work within the legal scope of local and state codes
  • Respect residents' privacy and preferences while cleaning their living spaces
  • Build positive relationships with residents by engaging in friendly, respectful interactions
  • Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and according to instructions
  • Follow infection control and sanitation protocols, including the proper handling and disposal of waste
