The role available is for a Building Cleaning Worker, which includes responsibilities such as porter, janitor, maid, housekeeping cleaner, window washer, and rug shampooer duties. This position focuses on keeping commercial or institutional buildings clean and orderly. The Building Cleaning Worker will clean offices, bathrooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas. Duties also involve wet or dry mopping floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, removing rubbish, pressure washing, and removing gum and graffiti. Additionally, minor repairs, painting, carpentry, replenishing bathroom supplies, landscaping, and snow removal are part of the job.
The role requires a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience, with less than one year of prior experience in a commercial or multi-unit residential property. Essential skills include dependability, teamwork, ethics, organizational support, safety and security awareness, and the ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English. Computer and smartphone literacy are also required, with clear and effective communication in English both verbally and in writing being critical. Multilingual skills are considered a plus.
This full-time position follows a specific schedule with overnight and evening shifts including Sunday 11:45 PM - 8:15 AM, Monday 11:45 PM - 8:15 AM, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 3:45 PM - 12:15 AM, with Tuesday and Wednesday off. The pay range is $22.29 to $29.72 hourly, commensurate with experience and following the Union contract.
