Job Description

Hotel Magdalena, part of the esteemed Bunkhouse hospitality family, is a distinctive hotel located in the heart of Texas. Inspired by the local lake house culture of the 1970s, this 89-room hotel stands out for its unique design reflecting the natural beauty and spring-fed heritage of the region. Embedded in the vibrant community near Austin, Hotel Magdalena offers guests an exceptional experience combining authentic Texas charm and modern hospitality. The hotel is home to notable establishments like Summer House on Music Lane and Magdalena Bar, providing visitors and locals with inviting spaces to relax, socialize, and enjoy the best of the Austin lifestyle just off South Congress. The Bunkhouse company itself is recognized for its dedication to design, music, and community-driven experiences, operating a portfolio of renowned hospitality projects across the United States.

The Bartender role at Hotel Magdalena is a dynamic position centered around delivering exceptional beverage service while supporting the overall guest experience. The chosen candidate will be responsible for mixing and serving drinks directly to patrons or through wait staff, serving items from the bar menu, and creating imaginative bar menu items. This role also encompasses food preparation duties associated with bar service. Beyond beverage crafting, the Bartender plays a crucial part in embodying and promoting the Bunkhouse culture and values, which emphasize genuine hospitality, community engagement, and respectful interaction with guests, vendors, partners, and fellow staff members.

This opportunity demands a candidate who possesses excellent communication skills, the ability to resolve conflicts thoughtfully, and a clear understanding of Bunkhouse policies. Bartenders are expected to warmly greet all guests in close proximity, ensuring each person feels genuinely welcomed and valued. The role involves maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and safety in the work area while contributing to the planning and organizing of the cocktail lounge or bar operations. The Bartender must handle responsibilities such as verifying legal age for alcohol purchase, managing cash receipts, and mitigating issues related to excessive drinking, all while fostering a positive atmosphere.

Hotel Magdalena offers an employment environment that encourages respect, inclusion, and equal opportunity, welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, merit, and business needs. This role is designed for individuals eager to enhance their hospitality career by joining a company dedicated to authentic guest experiences and community culture. Alongside professional responsibilities, employees benefit from a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision coverage, 401K with company match, and generous paid time off, plus additional perks such as free room nights and employee discounts at popular retailers.
