Job Description

The Westin San Antonio North is a luxury hotel located in North San Antonio, soaring 19 stories above the vibrant city. This esteemed establishment embodies the spirit of Texas hospitality, offering impeccable service combined with Southern charm. Situated just north of Downtown San Antonio, home to the Alamo and the renowned Riverwalk, the hotel provides guests easy access to key attractions like Fiesta Texas and Sea World San Antonio. The Westin San Antonio North is part of HEI Hotels and Resorts, a group committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, supporting associates through diverse initiatives, and building a strong service culture. As a member of this team, associates benefit from competitive wages, a robust paid time off (PTO) program, feel meals, free parking, travel perks through the Marriott Room Rate program, and opportunities across HEI-managed hotels.

The open position at The Westin San Antonio North is for a bartending role dedicated to delivering hospitable and memorable guest experiences. The bartender's responsibilities include maintaining an adequately stocked bar with beer, wine, spirits, and necessary supplies, preparing fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes daily to ensure premium quality, and greeting guests warmly while taking drink orders. This role requires mixing, garnishing, and presenting drinks following standard recipes with an emphasis on portion control. Attention to legal protocols is required as the bartender must comply with all State, Federal, and corporate regulations regarding alcoholic beverage service. Additionally, bartenders handle point of sale transactions meticulously, ensuring accurate cash handling, charge verification, and voucher execution to maintain accountability. The bartender also secures all beverage and food equipment, manages deposits, and participates actively in maintaining a smooth operational flow by complying with attendance rules and undertaking other related duties as assigned.

This role is well-suited for individuals with prior hotel experience who possess good communication skills and a solid foundational knowledge of food and beverage preparation. Essential competencies include basic math skills to manage cash register functions accurately and manual dexterity for garnishing and handling glassware. Physical endurance is important as this role involves standing for long periods and working in confined spaces. The ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and supervisors is key to establishing excellent working relationships. While the position expects bartenders to meet certain standards, HEI emphasizes inclusivity, encouraging interested candidates, including those with military backgrounds, to apply even if they do not meet every qualification exactly.

Compensation for this role includes eligibility for tipped/service charge earnings, while discretionary performance bonuses are not offered. The Westin San Antonio North and HEI Hotels and Resorts are committed to your overall wellness, providing comprehensive benefits that support your physical, mental, and financial health. These include competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, vacation, sick leave, and holiday programs, pet insurance, and supplemental life and disability coverage. Financial wellness programs include a 401(k) savings plan with matching funds and exclusive discounts on hotel rooms and various products and services. This comprehensive benefits package ensures associates are supported comprehensively to thrive both in and outside their professional roles. HEI Hotels and Resorts pledges equal opportunity employment and values diversity across all dimensions including race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and veteran status, ensuring a welcoming and equitable work environment for all employees.
