As a city government entity, the department plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for the community by offering diverse programs and safe public spaces for leisure and recreation. They oversee a variety of facilities including pools, parks, and recreational centers that serve people of all ages and abilities. The City of Pittsburgh values diversity, safety, and professionalism in all aspects of their operations.

Working within the Parks and Recreation Department, this role demands teamwork, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills.

The role of the Facility Attendant is focused on greeting patrons in a friendly and courteous manner when they enter and exit various recreational facilities such as pools and parks. It involves handling all patron inquiries, operating the cash register, managing cash transactions, and selling pool tags and daily admissions. This role is particularly well-suited to individuals who enjoy working in community-focused environments and who can maintain a professional attitude while effectively managing cash and customer interactions. The position requires flexibility as evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are common. Uniform compliance is mandatory to maintain a professional appearance. The Facility Attendant supports the Aquatic team by assisting in monitoring patron behavior and taking direction from the Head Lifeguard and other supervisory staff to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.

In summary, this position offers a unique opportunity to be an integral part of the City of Pittsburgh's Parks and Recreation Department by providing consistent, friendly, and efficient service to the public. Whether you are engaging with patrons at the entrance, handling the cash register, or collaborating with the Aquatic team on safety protocols, your role is key to the success and reputation of the city's recreational facilities.
