The University Police Department (JCUPD) at John Carroll University operates with a mission to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and the broader university community. As a Police Officer, your primary responsibility is to provide professional law enforcement services, maintain campus safety, and uphold university policies and local, state, and federal laws. The role requires independent, sound decision-making aligned with the JCUPD’s operational guidelines and the university’s strategic plan.

This position demands a versatile and engaged professional adept at handling various emergencies including criminal incidents, medical situations, and fire crises, all while interacting productively with diverse internal and external constituents. The Police Officer will be integral in investigating crimes, student conduct issues, and Title IX violations, ensuring impartiality and fairness throughout all proceedings. You will conduct high-visibility patrols to deter suspicious activities, provide security for campus events, manage parking and transportation enforcement, and contribute to the overall safety infrastructure like CCTV monitoring and alarm response.

Expect to work primarily the second shift, including weekends and holidays, totaling around 40 hours per week with possible overtime in exigent situations. The role involves physical demands such as running, firefights, physical restraints, and operating equipment, requiring significant physical fitness and the ability to respond appropriately under pressure.
