Smithfield fosters a culture grounded in its core values of gratitude, communication, respect, and accountability. It offers employees opportunities across various locations and functions, providing a dynamic environment where collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning are prioritized. This commitment is reflected in the company's promise to provide challenging and rewarding careers where individuals can grow, contribute, and make significant impacts.

The General Production team at Smithfield Foods plays a vital role in the company’s mission to deliver safe, high-quality food products responsibly. Your responsibilities will include working with hand tools, knives, machinery, and other processing equipment to ensure that meat products meet consumer expectations. This role demands physical stamina, good hand-eye coordination, and meticulous attention to detail. The company also supports professional development and career growth opportunities, making it an excellent choice for those looking to build a meaningful and long-lasting career in the food production industry.

Working conditions for this role require employees to be physically capable of performing repetitive motions such as grasping, pinching, flexing, and extending arms, as well as standing for extended periods on concrete or platforms during shifts that may last up to 12 hours. Employees must also be able to work in environments that vary from cold (20-40 degrees) to warm (over 100 degrees), and deal with wet, humid conditions, strong odors, and the presence of animal blood or carcass parts. Safety is paramount at Smithfield; thus, team members wear personal protective equipment including hard hats, steel-toed safety shoes, and eye and hearing protection.

Furthermore, employees may be tasked with various physical duties including climbing ladders, bending, stooping, twisting, walking long distances, and potentially lifting heavy objects up to 60 pounds, sometimes using mechanical assistance.
