Job Description

Hotel de la Poste, located in the heart of New Orleans' vibrant French Quarter, offers a unique opportunity to work in a setting infused with the rich culture and timeless charm of this iconic city. This soft-branded Renaissance hotel recently transitioned from The W New Orleans, blending modern luxury with the spirited essence of New Orleans—a city known worldwide for its history, music, and cuisine. The hotel embraces the lively energy of the French Quarter, providing guests with an unforgettable experience surrounded by historic architecture and jazz-filled streets. As part of a dynamic and welcoming team, employees contribute to the hotel’s mission to offer unparalleled hospitality in one of the most culturally rich settings in the United States.

The role of Food Server at Hotel de la Poste is integral to maintaining the high service standards and guest satisfaction the hotel is known for. This position falls under restaurant operations within the hotel’s busy dining outlet, engaging directly with restaurant customers to provide prompt and courteous food service. Under general supervision, Food Servers are responsible for greeting guests, taking and serving food and drink orders, and ensuring guest needs and special requests are attended to throughout their dining experience. The role requires a strong memory of menu items, recipes, and daily specials to confidently assist and recommend dishes to guests. Additionally, Food Servers uphold cleanliness and hygiene standards in the restaurant, waitstation, and kitchen service areas to comply with local health regulations and present a clean, attractive dining environment.

Attending departmental meetings and engaging in ongoing communication with team members are important aspects of this role, ensuring harmony and efficiency in service delivery. Food Servers are also trusted with handling guest checks carefully, verifying accuracy of orders and payments to protect both guests and the establishment. A professional appearance and friendly demeanor are essential in representing the hotel positively at all times. Physical demands include standing for prolonged periods, lifting and carrying trays and equipment, and navigating a bustling restaurant environment with grace and coordination. The position requires moderate hearing, vision, and multitasking capabilities to provide excellent customer service amidst a dynamic and sometimes noisy atmosphere.

Employment at Hotel de la Poste comes with a suite of competitive benefits, including health and welfare plans, discounted room rates at Marriott and Sage properties, and special corporate discounts on home insurance, entertainment, and more. The hotel fosters a community-oriented work environment that values fun and engagement alongside professionalism. This Food Server position is a regular part-time opportunity located at 316 Chartres St, New Orleans, Louisiana, inviting candidates eager to join a team dedicated to the spirit and culture of New Orleans’ bustling French Quarter.
